ABOUT ME

Riding and competing horses for nearly twenty years, I started taking photos for fun. Eventually I started getting invited to venues to cover shows and became a co-founder of RingSide Media. From leadline to grand prix, no class or event is too small for us.

Graduating from the University of Guelph in 2019 with degrees in Psychology and Classical Studies, I have been working with a number of departments within the university covering events from sporting games to convocation.

Starting in 2012, the original focus of Laurel Jarvis Photo was equestrian sporting events. LJP was the originator of the social media photo sponsorship program where companies could sponsor photos and have their logo placed on each image. Images would be sized for social media and freely available for competitors to share on their social media. This program was developed for two reasons. First, it helped deter theft of proofed images since they were freely available for social media use. Second, it created a pathway for local companies to reach out to riders and promote their program.

COMMUNITY

One important piece of my work is making sure I give back to the community. When I was running the photo sponorship program, I would choose a highly desired day for photos to “donate” to a local charity or organization. I would raise money leading up to the day and place the logo on hundreds of photos from their given date.
